  Manager (February 2011 –Current),                                  

  Mobile System Test

  Broadcom, San Diego

·   Lead for new feature verification for modem across all technologies (2G/3G/HSPA+/LTE/TD-SCDMA/Dual SIM/IMS VoLTE). Responsibilities include

o   Define test strategy for new features from planning phase to commercialization

o   Identify new features by going through the Marketing Requirement Document, Product Requirement Document and Plan of Record of new platforms

o   Evaluate test equipment roadmap, identify test equipment, negotiate price and make budgetary plans

o   Identify engineers as feature lead for the features and make sure that the test plans are ready and reviewed by development and systems design team

o   Track and report execution progress making sure that the program deadlines are met

o   Evaluate Field and IOT results in addition to the lab testing to declare the correct maturity level of new features.

o   Identify Risks, communicate it to the program and senior management and take steps to mitigate the risks

o   Make sure that the test cases are automated and added to regression for future platforms

·   Lead for Carrier Acceptance modem lab testing. Responsibilities include

o   Define Carrier Acceptance test strategy for main chipset platform and derivative platforms

o   Identify test equipment and packages for ATT, TMO, CMCC and VZW. Goal is to maximize coverage in lab, minimize duplication and costs.

o   Track and report execution progress, identify risks and take steps to mitigate risks

 

·   Lead modem functional testing for all technologies. Responsibilities include

o   Define test strategy for modem functional test covering 3GPP specs, feature interaction, failure scenarios, race condition for Phy, MAC, RRC, NAS and IMS.

o   Use the attenuator setup to execute pre-IOT testing in Ericsson, ALU and Datang drops.

o   Analyzed failures from IOT and field to identify test coverage holes and take steps to increase test coverage

·   Arranged weekly Training Sessions within the group so that knowledge is shared among the different team members. Recorded training sessions and slides were arranged in confluence page for future reference

·   Worked with the Tools development team to use database for entering results and generating report for both modem and carrier acceptance testing. This helped us to move away from using spread sheet to enter results.

·   Designed the modem system test confluence page so that all test plan, test equipment, test results can be found easily.

·   Led the team to test HSUPA feature.

·   Led the functional and performance test team for R99 WCDMA features.

·   Provided technical leadership for studies on UE performance related to System Acquisition, Out of Service Handling and Measurements.

·   Developed test cases for UMTS phones using Anritsu RTD to verify UE protocol stack.

·   Executed CDG-57 tests on IS-2000 phones using Racal 1x-AIME Base Station Emulator.

·   Led a group of engineers to make sure all handoff functional requirements are verified for cdma2000 base stations.

·   Involved in the planning of testing the integration of a third party EV-DO base station with the existing cdma2000 base stations

·   Developed test specifications and test plan based on system requirements and system design documents for cdma2000 base stations. Developed test plan for paging and access channels, handoff, service negotiation, R-SCH, power control, QPCH.

·   Performed integration tests to verify compliance of interfaces and features of cdma2000 base stations, debug problems and file trouble reports.  Features tested in the lab include Soft/softer handoff, Power Control, R-SCH, Hard handoff, Overhead Channels.

·   Automated test cases by developing library and test scripts using Tcl. Assisted in developing guidelines for automation so that the automated test cases can be executed in batch

·   Executed CDG Level 2 (CDG 57) testing for different vendor mobiles in the interop lab.
